Personality: Fletcher is a gentle soul, and is kind to everyone. He loves plants, and spends a lot of his time studying them, growing them, taking care of them and finding new species. The younger Tringham sibling feels guilty for what they’ve done to the people of Hidra, and often shows it more. His expressions also tend to give away what he’s feeling, and the only way to save himself from being questioned is to run away or have his older brother save him. Fletcher is devoted to his brother, even going so far as to follow him and continue research on the Red Water despite knowing what it does to the people who breathe in the fumes.

However, he does have courage and will go out of his way to save someone even if it means going against his brother to do it, especially when he knows it’s the right thing to do. Often he gets exasperated with his brother, as when Russell has learned a lesson once, but it goes out the window when there’s something his older sibling wants. On rare occasions, Fletcher is the voice of reason, while his older brother starts to act childish, but his advice is usually ignored.

Background (AU!Canon; HP):

Born to Nash Tringham, Russell is the older of the two siblings. His father was deeply immersed in the study of combining alchemy with potions and the creation of the Philospher’s Stone. Nash was taken in by a secret branch of the Ministry, a corrupted branch, secretly working in a lab in London. When Nash was given the results of the red water he created, he abandoned his family, leaving for the town of Hidra, in Norway, once famous for its mining of the mineral of xenotime. Nash lived in Hidra, and was taken in by one of the kind people, but was soon pressured by Magwar to continue his research.

For a time, Nash’s research went well, and a brief wave of prosperity and health raged through the land, a fountain of red water was built and the red water he had created to mimic the Philospher’s Stone flowed in rivers under the city, making everyone sick. A doctor named Marco came through, healing all of the people who were sick. Nash realized his mistake and once again abandoned his research, never to been seen or heard from again.

For the longest time they were a happy family, until their father disappeared when Fletcher was ten. Distraught with worry, their mother became sick, while Russell thinks it may have something to do with their father’s work with red water, there’s nothing Fletcher can do but sit back and help out. When he turned eleven, the younger Tringham began to attend Hogwarts and sent a letter home to his mother about all the things he was learning.

Now two years later, their mother hangs on the brink of life, permanently bedridden and barely conscious most of the time. The siblings have now learned the secret behind the work of their father and Russell has delved even deeper into the research, Fletcher, while wanting to save their mother, fears that it may already be too late.
